As patrons and avid collectors of regional art for nearly sixty years, Stephen and Sybil Stone of Buzzard's Bay, Massachusetts, amassed a sizeable collection of artwork by contemporary New England artists. This exhibition presents highlights from the 165 works that the Stones have generously given to DeCordova over the course of forty years.

DeCordova Collects: Gifts from Stephen and Sybil Stone includes paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures by prominent New England artists who practiced, or currently work, in the expressionist or realist traditions such as Laura Anderson, James Aponovich, David Aronson, Leonard Baskin, Hyman Bloom, Bernard Chaet, Alfred Duca, Nancy Hagin, Elizabeth Johansson, Jack Levine, Conger Metcalf, Peter Plamondon, Scott Prior, Henry Schwartz, William Shattuck, Mitchell Siporin, Barbara Swan, and Karl Zerbe. The show also includes works by Robert Eshoo, Gyorgy Kepes, Andrew Stevovich, and renowned American modernist Charles Sheeler.
This exhibition was organized by Francine Weiss, Curatorial Fellow, and will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue.
