Raise the Paddle | 2013
|
Continuing a popular Party for the Park tradition of focusing attention and support on deCordova's highest priority projects, this year's Raise the Paddle will provide vital operating funds to deCordova and its Sculpture Park initiatives. DeCordova's current leading Sculpture Park initiative is the installation of our largest Park project to date, Orly Genger's Red, Yellow and Blue. Employing 1.4 million feet of hand-knotted rope and over 3,500 gallons of paint, 2011 Rappaport Prize Artist Orly Genger will create bright, undulating walls that will wind throughout the Park. The installation Red, Yellow and Blue, will be on view beginning May 2013 in New York City's Madison Square Park, and will travel to deCordova and open to the public in late October. All Raise the Paddle participants will be invited to a special champagne toast before the installation opens to the public. |
