Crisis and the Everyday: An Evening with Liza Johnson

Thursday, March 10, 7 pm

FREE admission on a first-come, first-served basis

Location: Coolidge Corner Theater

Join video artist Liza Johnson and the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum community in this evening lecture/video screening at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline. Johnson is the 2010 recipient of deCordova's prestigious Rappaport Prize, an annual award given out to an established contemporary artist with ties to the New England area. Johnson is the 11th recipient of the prize.

Johnson will begin the talk with the screening of two of her recent video pieces, and will focus her lecture on recent works made with participants in the Mississippi Gulf Coast (South of Ten) and in an Appalachian circus school (In the Air), and will also discuss new projects she has embarked on as a result of winning the Rappaport Prize: a feature film (Return) with professional actors, and a GPS-based film in rural Australia.
