Cindy Cloutier approaches her painting without preconceived notions, but finds the end result to be a manifestation of emotions, memories, instincts, and visual patterns. The artist is attracted to and inspired by bright, warm colors and textures. Her canvases evolve as each stroke creates a visual challenge which then prompts her decision about the next stroke. Cloutier’s tools vary from the traditional paint brushes and palette knives to kitchen utensils and found objects. The paint is brushed, scraped, shaped, layered, and tossed until the work feels complete.
Cloutier has had solo exhibitions at the Winchester Public Library, Winchester, MA, Flora Restaurant, Arlington, MA, Art at Macondo, Macondo Grill, Somerville, MA, and the Winchester Coop Bank, Winchester, MA. The artist has also been included in group exhibitions including those at 411 Gallery, ngzhou City, China, Ayer Lofts Gallery, Lowell, MA, Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, MA, and Winchester Town Hall, Winchester, MA.
