Daniel Howell depicts small abstractions of the real world. By shooting close up and using a tight composition, he is able to photograph objects that might otherwise go unnoticed. He arranges construction paper and found objects on a black background, which helps emphasize the two dimensionality of the medium he has chosen.
The artist received a BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. He has shown his work at Clark University, Worcester, MA, The Featherstone Gallery, Firehouse Gallery, both in Oak Bluffs, MA, and The Field Gallery, West Tisbury, MA, among other locations. Howell participates in the Art in Embassies Program, which places artwork in American Embassies worldwide.
