Alex MacLean
Alex MacLean has always had a preference for visual forms of expression. He explains that he is "interested in both man-made and natural patterns as seen from the air—patterns which are curious and telling reflections of underlying cultural and physical forces." After receiving a master's degree from Harvard in architecture, MacLean started Landslides, a Boston-based aerial photography firm. While piloting a Cessna 182, he captures America's landscape to remind us that the earth's surface is ever-changing and finite. MacLean manipulates landscape elements into abstracted, two dimensional forms uncovering the logic, immense scale, and complexity of nature as seen from above.
