Cameron Shaw, Anacephalus, 1998

Anacephalus, 1998, French mannequin, beeswax, pigment, and mirror, 63" x 22" x 96", Lent by the Artist; Courtesy Barbara Krakow, Boston, MA

Cameron Shaw's work Saturnal reflects the aesthetic strategy and iconography of Surrealism. Through this elegant and spare installation, Shaw unifies disparate objects to create a close dialogue by their presentation, references to the human body, and mutual reliance on the color black.
