Jane Smaldone's paintings combine her long-standing interests in landscape and still-life with a new element-the human figure. The artist borrows from a number of distinct art historical traditions, including Chinese landscape painting, late 19th C. French Symbolism, folk art, and both Italian Renaissance and American Colonial portraiture.
