Ri Anderson

Talbot's Bed & Breakfast, Belgrade Lakes, Maine, August 15, 1998, night, Selenium toned gelatin silver print, 24" x 20" (paper size)
In her work, Anderson invents and acts out fictitious dramas. Clad in a cocktail dress, she places herself in a variety of settings, ranging from the stark Southwestern landscape, to nondescript motel rooms, to a New York rooftop. These are not, however, your typical self-portraits or landscape photographs—the character Anderson plays is dead; this adds an element of the surreal to these otherwise banal landscapes.
