Laura Baring-Gould

Apiary (detail), 2000, installation: straw, steel, copper, copper wire, blown glass, New England honey, light, video of bee shadows, sound of flying bees, 14' x 13' x 20'
Baring-Gould’s work involves the creation of spaces where viewers are immersed in carefully orchestrated sets of sensory and mythic experiences that can be spiritually transforming. Within the space of Apiary, mutually reinforcing architectural scale, numinous light, suggestive textures and odors, and archetypal objects and images, are interwoven to establish a place of great beauty and mystery.
