Romas Juozas Banaitis

Romas Juozas Banaitis, Midas, 2000

Midas, 2000, plaster, paint, bull horns, 90" x 26" x 34"

Midas is a self-portrait. In making this sculpture I struggle with my identity through dreams and desires. A king in my own world, I am made out of solid gold. I am armed and dangerous, half man and half woman. I have created a monster. I am sexy and hideous. I am a monster.
