Cindy Sedlmeyer: This is Not a Cloud

Window Gallery

Ongoing

David Berry: SegmentsConnecticut photographer Cindy Sedlmeyer has affixed translucent images of clouds to the surface of the giant window of the Museum's façade. These images will interact with the reflections of real clouds that appear in the window and raise questions about representation, language, photography, and illusion.

According to the artist, "We can all recall the child's game of looking up at clouds to discover concrete images within the abstraction of the form. When we look to clouds we allow ourselves to enter into our own imagination, which is the posture one should take when entering a museum, to let yourself wonder and imagine."

This temporary site-specific installation is part of a series of works by contemporary artists commissioned for the Window Gallery.
