Timothy Harney

“While I am a painter above all else, the emphasis in my teaching is on drawing and establishing relationships as well as the fullness of form. Helping students to "see" through an approach in drawing that is not only rigorous and structural, but also empathetic, is rewarding.”

Tim was born in Beverly, MA 1955. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he received his BFA and MFA. Tim is an Assistant Professor at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA, teaching in Foundation as well as in the Painting & Drawing Department. He has also taught at the University of New Hampshire in Durham and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Tim has exhibited in Boston, Seattle, New York, and La Jolla. His work is in the permanent collection of the DeCordova Museum as well as in many private and corporate collections. He is represented by the Clark Gallery in Lincoln, MA. He has taught at the DeCordova Museum School since 1985.
