Joan Nyman
Joan Nyman holds degrees from Wellesley College and Columbia University. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries as well as public and commercial venues. She is also a marketing consultant for artists, offering workshops and private consulting. Her teaching style is both dynamic and informative. Students praise her for the energy that she brings to the classroom, and find her a personable and accessible instructor. Her workshops provide an arena for discussion rather than lecture. Prior to her career as an artist, Nyman headed her own business consulting and training firm, specializing in marketing and organizational skills. Nyman is able to bring these skills to her teaching in order to help her students grow as artists through the development of useful skills and realistic goals. Her eclectic background enables her to help her students find their own way to success as artists. She has been teaching at the DeCordova Museum School since 2005.
