Lucia deLeiris
Lucia DeLeiris graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Zoology, which in turn inspired her artistic career as she made on-site sketches of the wildlife she encountered. Her visual interpretations enforced her knowledge of the forms and postures of animals. Her frequent trips to Antarctica have transpired to become the main basis of her artistic career. Her sketches have appeared in three books and in National Geographic special publications. She also has paintings in various museum collections including the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
