Eric O'Leary: On The Bench…

The Store @ DeCordova

March 24 - April 7, 2002

Opening Reception: Sunday, March 24, 2 - 4 pm

Lincoln, MA-There is never a more restful moment than one spent sitting in the garden. Ceramic artist Eric O'Leary of Tariki Studios fashions exquisite stoneware seats and tables that grace your home in, or out, of doors. Subtle, glowing glazes form a durable surface on these "sculpture for sitting"-functional art forms that invite contemplation and rest. "Tariki" is a Buddhist term that roughly translates as "grace or enlightenment received from Other-Power."

Tariki Studios in Meriden, New Hampshire was founded over forty years ago by Eric's father, Jack O'Leary. Eric began assisting his father in the studio at the age of five and went on to formal study at Goddard College in Vermont in sculpture and film. He returned to work with his father in 1968 and has been creating functional ceramic artwork ever since. His current work includes splendid seats and benches for the garden as well as fountains, lanterns, pedestals, and planters. He also creates larger-scale, site-specific, commissioned work for clients throughout the region. His work appears in many private and corporate collections and has been exhibited in numerous museum and university exhibitions.

The Store @ DeCordova will host an exhibition of Eric's works for the garden from March 24 - April 7, 2002. A celebratory reception for the artist will be held on Sunday, March 24 from 2 - 4pm at The Store. Call 781/259-8692 for more information.

Monday - Thursday, 9:30 am - 7:30 pm
Friday - Saturday, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Sunday, 11:30 am - 5:30 pm
