Donating artwork to the Museum

Stephan Brigidi, Angel Number One, 1991
Gift of Arlette and Gus Kayafas
Due to the limited funds available to purchase artwork for the Collection, DeCordova also collects through donations of art to the Permanent Collection. DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park's Permanent Collection focuses on 20th and 21st century American art with an emphasis on post-1950 and New England artists. DeCordova welcomes appropriate gifts of art works by private collectors, artists, other institutions, etc. to the Permanent Collection. Each prospective donation will be reviewed by the Curatorial Staff for relevance to the Collection, significance in an art historical context, and condition of the work itself. Artworks that satisfy these criteria will then be presented to the Collections and Exhibitions Committee of the Board of Trustees for official acquisition to the Permanent Collection.

Peter Kayafas, New York City, Spring, 1993

Donors may also want to consider leaving artwork to DeCordova in the form of a bequest.
If you are interested in potentially donating artwork to DeCordova, please contact the Curatorial Department at 781/259-3627 or curatorialfellow@decordova.org.
