Inspired by political and social themes, Jeanette Staley’s pensive mixed media collages are immediately striking. The artist places recognizable objects as her work’s centrifugal focus. Closer inspection of the collages’ layers reveals that, by juxtaposing newspaper articles, photographs, storybook pages, and other elements, each artwork comments on society’s numbness toward the world’s harsh reality.
A self-taught painter, the artist has shown at Brickbottom Gallery, Somerville, MA, the Infinity Gallery, Boston, MA, and the Essex Art Center, Lawrence, MA, among many others. She is a member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, and the Concord Art Association.
