Born and raised in New York City, Jeannie Motherwell inherited a love of painting from her father and stepmother, both professional artists. She studied painting at Bard College and the Art Students League in New York. Continuing painting after college, she became active in arts education at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT. In 1998, Motherwell relocated to Cambridge, MA where she works for the Arts Administration Graduate Program at Boston University. From 2003–2007 Motherwell served on the Public Art Commission Advisory Committee for the Cambridge Arts Council. She exhibits at the Lyman-Eyer Gallery in Provincetown, MA, where she has summered much of her life.
