Jonathan Palmer’s fascination with the human psyche and interpretations of visual stimuli is obvious within the many layers and symbols in his work. His carefree, yet meticulous method of painting allows images to emerge and be defined by each viewer through their own individual perceptions. Maintaining parallel careers as an artist and psychoanalyst, Palmer creates thought-provoking, abstract paintings that demand an emotional reaction and reflection by the viewer.
Palmer began studying art under Paul Stopforth and Bill Ainsly in his native South Africa while earning his BS and PhD in Psychiatry. After immigrating to America, the artist continued his studies under Ron Rizzi in Boston and Jon Imber in Maine. Palmer has exhibited at the New Art Center and Kantar Fine Arts both in Newton, MA.
