Julianna Bruce based her Steps series on the lines of a stairwell. She “revels” in the process of using acrylic interface paint to invent unique spaces and forms. Her palette varies from dark tones to vibrant colors, and even subtle hues that are hardly visible. The Bedroom series explores depth in real and impossible spaces through color and shape. Layers of paint and varied texture enhance the atmospheric quality present in much of her work.
The artist received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has exhibited at the Flushing Gallery in New York and the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA, among other institutions. She has also participated in a number of open studios in the Boston area, including King Terminal in South Boston.
