Lisa Lindgren welcomes viewers into her work by scaling her canvas to the height of the human body. She desires the participant to “enter” her paintings and seek refuge in the spaces she creates. The artist’s objective is to “portray the feeling of infinity and limitlessness of space.” Lindgren contemplates the altered perceptions of light as it is refracted through water, and her work is often inspired by swimming underwater. Other works by the artist explore the uniting of earth and sky, in which the two blend together without the intrusion of horizons.
Lindgren received a BA in design in architecture from the University of Florida and a MFA in painting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. She has shown at numerous galleries in New York, Washington DC, and Florida.
