Lynn Avery’s focus on the environment is reflected in her paintings of large-scale trees, where the artist calls attention to the subjects as essential, fragile, and hopeful. The artist’s concern for nature and destruction is evident through her style of depicting trees reaching for the sky and toward the light. The dramatic light and ambience of her paintings attract and hold the viewer’s eye. “The paintings have a spiritual quality because the forest is seen as a sacred place... I try to evoke the sense of sacredness found in all places of worship.”
The artist studied fine arts in Paris, France, and Italy. Most recently, she studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She has had a solo exhibition at the Galerie Colette Allendy in Paris.
