"My life is my work. My work is making art. The process of 'doing' is of prime importance. The results become secondary. Inspiration comes from my environment, with all of its sights, sounds, and smells. Using my eye and my soul, I explore anything that intrigues me—a leaf, a shell, a bird singing its heart out in the springtime, a rock, an island in the distance, the face of a child, an African mask, the smell of freshly picked flowers, the sun, the moon, the stars, the spaces in between… I like to break the rules. I like to take chances. And every once in awhile something absolutely wonderful happens! I have been making art all of my life. When I am unable to do this, life becomes intolerable. My work is my life."
