Patricia White’s compositions are assembled using various media. The artist places objects on a printing plate, yielding a sea of amorphous shapes that wind through her abstract landscapes. Following the printing process, in which running multiple plates through the press adds different colors, the artist adheres collaged paper to the work. Due to her addition of objects in both stages of her work, the printing and the collaging, White’s compositions become both literally and visually textural. The effect is dramatic, and its complexity draws the viewer through the narrative.
After receiving a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, White continued her formal artistic training with printmaking courses through the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and independent studies at the Arlington Center for the Arts. She has exhibited at the Cambridge Art Association, Blue Pony Gallery, Charlotte, NC, Gallery 5 North, Boston, MA, and the South Shore Art Center, Cohasset, MA.
