William Remick’s paintings pop out at the viewer with their dynamic abstract style, which is lively and active without being aggressive. Remick builds up layers of patterns and colors, creating a depth to his work that mimics the intricate psyche of the mind. A softer palette and washier application gives way to deliberate lines of geometric shapes in bold colors applied to the top layer, almost as a protective shell. Despite his inclusion of such a diverse and extensive color palette, Remick’s paintings remain harmonious, just as a jazz composition relies on contrasting themes to become soulful.
