Drawing inspiration for her imaginative dreams, Yumiko Nishiyama paints abstracted nature scenes. Reflecting on her A Walk through the Forest series, the artist states “I challenged to dismiss the conventional landscape image, and instead reached out to more innovative, imaginative, and perhaps, poetical aspect.” Expressive and unique, Nishiyama’s work welcomes the viewer into these dreamlike abstract landscapes.
Nishiyama received a BFA in fine arts from The Art Institute of Boston. The artist has shown at Artspace, Charlottesville, VA, the Federal Reserve Bank, Boston, MA, and MPG Gallery, Boston, MA. She received an award for local artists in Odawara City, Japan.
